District 105 Announcements
Labor Day Holiday - No School - Mon. Sept 6
Labor Day is a United States holiday observed on the first Monday in September. The holiday originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union (of New York City) sought to create "a day off for the working man". Congress made Labor Day a federal holiday in 1894. Full reference found HERE.

District 105 Schools Recognized by State of Illinois
Over the past four years, all five District 105 schools have been recognized as Honor Roll Schools by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The awards recognize excellence in academics as measured by the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT).

Based on 2009 ISAT results, two District 105 Schools have been recognized as Illinois Honor Roll Schools for 2009:

Hodgkins Elementary School, for the second consecutive year, received the Illinois "Spotlight School Award" for attaining high achievement levels.  The Spotlight Award recognizes schools where at least 70 percent of the students meet or exceed the state standards in both reading and mathematics.

Spring Avenue Elementary School, for the third consecutive year, received the Illinois "Academic Excellence Award".  Spring Avenue School was recognized with this award based on at least 90 percent of students meeting or exceeding standards in reading and math for three consecutive years.

More information on the awards and the selection criteria can be found HERE.

Additionally, all five District 105 schools have achieved "Adequate Yearly Progress" as defined by federal and state laws.  Click
